River, is a spirited 3-year-old Boykin Spaniel, formally known as Gunning River from New Jersey with 2½ years of active hunting experience. A truly versatile dog, he’s a devoted house companion who also excels in the field, hunting everything from doves to geese. River holds NAHRA and HRC started titles and is a proud member of NAHRA, UKC, and the Boykin Spaniel Society. His first goose retrieve remains a standout memory, and his playful personality shines through in training—like the time he carried a goose bumper for the first time, much to everyone’s amusement. Known for his love of Cheerios, River’s favorite saying would be “Where’s the birds at?!” A true goofball with a big heart, he’s also one of only two breeds originating in America, proudly serving as the state dog of South Carolina. Depending on the day, the mailman might be his friend—or more likely, his foe.
